About this programme:
If you are passionate about traveling, a career in tourism is for you. You will be required to be organised and have good communication skills. Tourism encompasses every product and service offered to tourists and business executives who are away on holiday or business. Tourism is the fastest growing industry in South Africa, providing an ever-increasing contribution to South Africa’s economy. You could choose to be based in an office, booking flights and organising accommodation or guiding tours and engaging with tourists.

Qualification:
A National N Diploma in Tourism is awarded on the successful completion of this programme
Duration:
Each level takes 6 Months full time to complete (total of 18 months to complete the theory) and then 18 months practical. Generally it takes 3 years to qualify for a National N Diploma.
Course Content:
Students complete three certificates (N4-N6) and 18 months of in-service training, at the end of which a Diploma is awarded.

After completing this qualification and achieving the necessary entry requirements at academic level you will be able to continue studying in a travel and tourism-related field at an institution specifically focused on education and training for this industry, eg, at a University of Technology. Learners who successfully complete the qualification will also have the option of being awarded with the National Diploma in Tourism once you have completed an 18-month period of work in the industry. This Diploma is awarded by the Department of Higher Education and Training.
